College of Medicine Graduate Education
Our master’s programs offer advanced study across the biomedical sciences, combining scientific knowledge, practical skills, and research experience to prepare students to pursue careers in research, healthcare, education, and innovation.
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
The program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to obtain positions within the private and government research sectors. It is designed to provide the background necessary for entry into competitive PhD or other professional school (MD, DVM, DDS, etc.) programs.
Biomedical Informatics
This is a specialized degree designed to prepare students for academic or practical, hands-on careers in biomedical informatics. Our mission is to train a workforce of professionals, researchers, and leaders through multidisciplinary training in computer science, health and medicine, biostatistics, data science and analytics, engineering, and research methodology.
Health Outcomes & Implementation Science
The Health Outcomes and Implementation Science provides a unique set of interdisciplinary skills in research design and execution to prepare graduates for the growing fields of implementation science, clinical and translational science, and prevention science.
Medical Physics
This program prepares graduates for careers focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human diseases.
Molecular Cell Biology
The MS in Medical Sciences focusing on Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB MS program) is designed for students interested in graduate studies and laboratory research in the exciting field of molecular, cellular and cancer biology. The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology is a home for interdisciplinary research, which is undergoing rapid growth. Students will acquire cell biology and interdisciplinary research skills to become competitive for research positions in colleges, universities, and companies in the biomedical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, bio-agricultural, and diagnostics/devices sectors. Students will also become competitive for entry to Ph.D. or other professional degree programs, such as MD, DVM or DDS.
Molecular Genetics & Microbiology
This thesis research degree is aimed at students who have interest in learning how to conduct scientific research. It could prepare students for pursuing research-based Ph.D. studies or performing research in a variety of other venues such as industry or government.
Neuroscience
Students in the M.S. in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience complete graduate discipline-based coursework while receiving hands-on laboratory training with internationally recognized faculty. Students conduct mentored research projects in areas such as neuro oncology, learning and memory, substance use disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Graduates are prepared for research-intensive careers in academia, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
Pharmacology
Pharmacology is a multidisciplinary field that broadly seeks to understand mechanisms of drug action and to develop novel therapeutics. The discipline requires in-depth knowledge of chemical and biological processes that culminate in the development of treatments and cures for disease. The multidisciplinary nature of pharmacology involves an integrative training that includes the understanding and the practical application of chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and whole organism physiology principles.
Artificial Intelligence In Biomedical & Health Sciences
The University of Florida’s Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical and Health Sciences (AIBHS) is now offered at the new UF Jacksonville campus. This experiential program prepares professionals to design and apply trustworthy AI technologies in clinical care, biomedical research, and healthcare management.
